How long should baby sleep?
As babies grow, their sleeping pattern and length of sleeping time change. These newborn sleeps anywhere from 10.5 to 18 hours in a day, with no regular sleeping pattern. Babies from 2 months to 2years old have longer sleep periods. They begin to shift towards a longer and more definite nighttimes sleep routine coupled with several daytime naps throughout the day. Babies around this age sleep an average of 14 to 14.5 hours a day. Once they become toddlers, the average is around 13 to 14 hours of sleep during nighttimes, with shorter daytime naps.
