Fighting off Influenza Blues

As the curve of her lips begins to widen, it slowly evolved into the most enchanting smile-this perhaps the earliest sign of a baby’s first attempt at social interaction. It signals joy and contentment; it communicates a state of well being; it is an indicator one looks for to determine that a child is thriving well. Among the most unfavorable things that could dampen that sweet smile, turning an angelic child into a cranky one, is any childhood illness such as the flu or influenza.

The ease with which the flu virus can be transmitted makes it a very contagious disease. Clearly there is a need to protect yourself and your family from it. Vaccination by far offers the best method of prevention.

Other healthy tips to prevent the spread of the virus include frequent hand washing, covering your mouth and nose whenever you sneeze or cough, and staying away from sick persons. These same tips can also be taught to children to prevent inviting bad bugs into your home.

It is best to discuss matters related to influenza immunization with your health providers

So why wait for the flu to hit your home? Get immunized and protect your family from the dangers of influenza.
